John Meint Smith is a widely respected international businessman and community worker in Australia, Pacific Islands, Europe and South American, where he and his Dutch family have had a distinguished business record since World War 2. John’s family are renowned to have secretly sheltered Jewish refugees and fleeing evacuees.

Prior to working on Anuha Island, John was the Executive Chef at the premier Hamilton Island Hotel in the Queensland Whitsundays, having previously operated his own restaurants in Queen Street in Brisbane’s CBD.
In 1987, John was appointed as Executive Chef by Pacific Resorts of Australia, the then operators of Anuha Island Resort in the central province of the Solomon Islands.
Soon after John’s arrival, he was given the added responsibility to act as Resident General Manager of the Anuha Island Resort.
